In Ceramics, you’ll get your hands in clay from day one.
The course is mainly hands-on, but we combine technical guidance, method training, and inspiring theoretical input, so you gain a solid understanding of working with clay.
Meet the teacher
Lene Weigelt
Lene is the school’s design woman. She has a good eye for the world of art.
Lene is good at thinking outside the box, especially in her two subjects Art and Ceramics. Lene finds the beautiful in the imperfect, and she emphasizes the students’ development so that they have free rein to express themselves in the world of art.
The subject
From classic techniques to quirky experiments where you might not know exactly how it will turn out (and that’s the fun of it!). You’ll learn practical skills and get inspired through lessons, excursions, and each other.
You can look forward to:
– Trying the Japanese firing process Raku, famous for its beautiful, wild, and unpredictable results
– Creating everything from ceramic jewelry to church art and icons
– Going on trips to museums and meeting artists who will spark new ideas
– Exploring different types of clay, techniques, and firing methods
– Learning to make your own glaze mixtures
– Designing, developing, and creating finished pieces you can use in everyday life
Here, there’s room for everyone, whether you’ve never tried ceramics before or you already love it. It’s not just about making something beautiful, but about discovering how much you can do when you just dive in and give it a try.
