Meet the teacher

Michael Dalgas

Michael is a trained drummer from the University of Southern Denmark’s Academy of Music.

In addition to teaching, Michael is an active musician with numerous concerts and releases, both under his own name and in collaboration with others. While jazz is closest to his heart, Michael has a very broad taste in music and loves talking about and listening to it.

Michael is also deeply interested in cooking, DIY projects, sci-fi, football, and folk music from different cultures. He lives in Baaring and is father of 9-year-old Aya.

The subject

We believe that music is not just about playing solo; it’s about playing together. That’s why collaboration and ensemble work are at the heart of this subject. How do we make music sound amazing together? That’s something we’re constantly working on.

One of the greatest strengths of our school is the diversity of cultures we bring together. As a student in Music, you’ll have the chance to present your own musical culture while also learning about the history behind others’. We dive into different backgrounds, sounds, and methods that make music come alive.

In Music, it’s all about you as a student. What interests you, and where do you want to take your music? You’ll have significant influence on the subject, and together we’ll create a fun and educational experience. You can look forward to trying out:

Recording music – Learn how to record music and even create your own tracks.

Rhythm games – Understand and experiment with rhythm and groove.

Presenting your music – Learn how to communicate your music and its cultural background.

Concerts – Of course, we’ll be performing concerts at the school!

Free improvisation – Unleash your creativity and try new things.

It doesn’t matter what level you’re at. Music is an inclusive subject where everyone gets a role that suits their abilities. The most important thing is that we enjoy ourselves, push boundaries, and learn through playing together.
