PERMACULTURE
Permaculture
Green values for sustainable acting
AT BRENDERUP HØJSKOLE
Permaculture is a holistic design philosophy, which strives for uniting the systems of people and nature and bring them into harmony. And this is a gift for you, who wants to be inspired for a meaningful lifestyle that cares about the earth and human beings.
In the subject Permaculture you will learn about food production with the inspiration from nature´s ecosystems and you will get to know nature´s pantry.
Other than that we will together try to find the good and sustainable life. We will look at old traditions and customs, but we will also use the principles of permaculture in a creative process to find ways of enjoyment that can be a worthy alternative to the values of the consumer society.
We will get dirt under our nails, hands on the drawing board, explore the landscape and experience the joy of harvesting our own crops and finding mushrooms in the forest.

Practical permaculture
In our community of practice you can make a permanent footprint by developing the present gardens in the school and creating new green oases.
We use different tools to design selfsustaining cultivating systems, and you will learn about permaculture´s mange potentials in both small and large scale; from self-suffiency in an apartment to the ”regenerative” forest farming that points into future´s food production.
Gardens, strawbale houses, forest and beach
In our garden we built two strawbale houses. One of them is a self-sufficient off-grid house, and together they provide the inspirational frames for indoor classes, and right outside the door you find our small forest and vegetable gardens.
The school is situated in a scenic area close to forest and the sea.
We will learn in nature and make inspirational trips in the landscape with the focus on gathering plants, plant knowledge, nature immersion and outdoor competences.
We will also make trips to look at different permaculture solutions.
