COMMON SUBJECTS – PROJECT WEEK – FEATURE DAYS
“Common subjects” are subjects common to the entire student group, and may have different content.
The folk high school songbook is important to us at Brenderup. We sing every day, at the morning assembly. We have singing lessons every week and the music class often makes the rest of us hum along. The song opens up for presence in the community – lyrics and melodies reveal new layers of meaning by using them often.
In Team building activities, your ability to work together is put to the test – you become aware of your strengths and gain insight into where there is still room for development. Your ideas for completing a particular task can often be refined and with the help of the group, the collaboration can move mountains (almost!).
You get good stories and interesting lectures from the school teachers. They have fascinating things on their minds and are passionate about telling about it.
With the weekly cultural evening, you will be introduced to food from other parts of the world, dances and games that are different, as well as music and language with a “skewed” sound. You help to show the uniqueness of your culture and you get a wealth of impressions from other people’s cultures.
The project week gives you the opportunity to work independently with a self-chosen topic within art, music, design, dance, theater, film, photography, technology etc.
You get insight into the work process from the idea phase to the project description and to the implementation of the project. During the process, you will receive supervision from a teacher. We finish the week by presenting the projects to each other.
Feature days are basically a course that is planned along the way, where it can fit in. It is a project where all students collaborate on a project. Eg. a theater project or art or decoration assignment. Feture days can also be days where we go on a trip to see something that is relevant to what is being worked on.
